Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Director, responsible for implementing the strategic plan and executing the budget for CPL's portfolio of cocurricular programs of the Zuckerman, Dubin, Gleitsman, and George programs. This includes:
o 30 on-campus lectures, seminars and workshop cocurricular per academic year
o A 2.5-day welcome retreat
o 2 multi-day field experiences per year for groups of roughly 20-25 students
o CPL-affiliated student alumni gathering every 2-3 years
· Working with CPL and other university faculty and staff, implement programming content for fellows and other students in leadership development, social change, and multi-sector career development. This work includes identifying and recruiting speakers, managing and staffing lectures, seminars, experiential learning visits, and workshops throughout the academic year. Provide all programming follow-up for each activity, including thanking speakers, soliciting feedback, and evaluating program. Approximately 15 on campus events and three major off-campus events per semester.
· Coordinate and staff experiential learning trip(s) and annual welcome retreat from planning through execution and follow-up. Includes researching potential speakers and programs; coordinating speaker invitations and briefings; arranging logistics of travel, materials; scheduling booking and coordination of itineraries for students, faculty and staff’; follow-up to thank and pay expenses for hosts, VIPs and speakers.
· Manage programs according to existing budgets, allocating resources according to program goals and number of participants. Ensure compliance with established agreements and maximize use of funding for programming through management of vendors. Provide CPL management with regular reports on spending.
· Coordinate programming activity with all CPL staff to find opportunities to leverage speakers, events and activities for all students across HKS and the university. Actively seek partnerships across and among programs beyond CPL Fellowships
· Serve as primary point of contact of fellowship activities for the student-fellows
· Evaluate feedback from student-fellows and implement program improvements in consultation with CPL staff and faculty
· Solicit materials from student-fellows to compile annual reports and donor appreciation. Assist A.D. with completion of annual reporting requirements and other projects as assigned.
Basic Qualifications 2-5 years relevant administrative experience. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred. Must possess excellent problem-solving skills, as well as writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle several projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks from multiple sources, and meet frequent deadlines. Demonstrated ability to create and implement a complex project plan. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to act as a representative of CPL to external audiences. Must be comfortable working with high profile faculty and guests. Infrequent travel required. Knowledge of Harvard University systems and Kennedy School environment preferred.
This position is required to work a schedule that includes occasional weekends and regular evening hours.
