Duties & Responsibilities
Oversee post-award portfolio management activities of approximately 8-10 Principal Investigators. This includes: complex financial management and analysis; compliance with University policy and sponsor's terms and conditions, and reporting. Conduct monthly detailed analysis of portfolios and provide individual consulting to faculty clients. Interpret complex terms and conditions and apply understanding of federal regulations. Portfolios consist primarily of sponsored research but include other sources of funds including gift and start-up accounts. Proactively establish relationships with Principal Investigators and their staff; maintain effective communication; protect confidential information. Work to anticipate changes in future funding of portfolio and provide sound advice to clients. Work closely with the Principal Investigator and Office for Sponsored Programs, to review new awards, set up budgets, and provide guidance on policy, and to communicate with funding agencies. Work with faculty assistants to ensure proper account coding and pre-approval of all purchasing. Provide superior customer service.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting and 3 years of related experience.
Additional Qualifications Knowledge of federal regulations for sponsored research. Strong analytical ability as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-directed, team-oriented and customer focused. Must be able to handle multiple competing priorities. Must be trusted with confidential information. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to manage challenging discussions with faculty.
Superior skills in Excel and other applications in Microsoft Office Suite. Expert knowledge in Oracle financial systems and Harvard financial applications.
