About.com is looking for a motivated, mature, and reliable individual to join its Desktop Support as strong contributor to the team. Desktop
Support provides basic and intermediate laptop, software, and phone support to the About.com team.
The ideal candidate will have 2 - 3 years of experience and be a strong communicator, logical thinker, and problem solver who is familiar with typical productivity programs under
Windows XP, Windows Vista/7, and Mac OS X. This candidate must be adept at supporting and providing solutions in an environment closer to an ISP
than a back-end corporate IT department.

Responsibilities: - Help ensure for the continued proper productivity of the About team by maintaining proper functioning of About's laptops, desktops, and smart phones
- Troubleshooting and resolution of productivity tools under Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X
- First level network, email, phone, and file server support
- Escalation and follow-up on network, email, phone, and file server issues
- Work with vendors to resolve issues
- Procurement and tracking of hardware, software, and supplies
- Educate staff on software and hardware best practices and self-help
- Help with any needed software installations or migrations
