Requirements

· Impeccable written and spoken English and Spanish language skills. Ability to translate to and from both languages, in both oral and written form. Comfortable communicating and explaining technical and other issues in both languages.

· At least 4 years of relevant editorial experience that includes working at a Spanish-language website or consumer publication

· A deep understanding of the U.S. Hispanic audience and their interests; a passion for helping online consumers meet their needs

· Ability to work and confidently make editorial judgments independently; resourcefulness and enthusiasm for an early-stage project; ability to adapt, multitask, and familiarize self with new topics, policies and online tools quickly

· Facility with or a strong interest in a wide range of subject areas, including (but not limited to) religion, politics, parenting, entertaining, health, food, style, gadgets and technology

· Experience managing freelance writers or independent contractors a strong plus

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent

· Build a taxonomy for the About.com Español channel by identifying and implementing appropriate subject and topic areas

· Create site descriptions for each GuideSite topic; help recruit, hire and train new Guides

· Review About.com Español channel content for quality, style and overall user experience; work with writers to hone editorial skills, expand editorial scope of sites, improve user experience, and increase audience metrics (frequency, duration, etc.); track metrics that demonstrate improvements/opportunities

· Work collaboratively with in-house staff to ensure that all support documentation related to tools, metrics, support and editorial best practices are accessible to Spanish-only speakers

· Implement changes to improve search engine optimization (SEO) of content; coach Guides in their improvement of SEO

· Track competitive landscape in online space and identify potential opportunities and challenges for About.com

· Create and implement editorial calendars and stay abreast of trends in the space for effective creation and promotion of content

· Use knowledge of Hispanic U.S. market to work collaboratively with product teams to integrate third-party content, with Ecommerce Editor to integrate ecommerce, and with the display ad sales team to facilitate sponsored editorial programs
