Established in 1937, the University of Maryland Counseling Center, within the Division of Student Affairs, is the primary campus agency responsible for the provision of emotional, social, educational and career counseling and disability support services. It serves a diverse University community of over 36,000 students and more than 4,000 members of the faculty and staff. The Center employs a staff of 60, which includes 30 professional staff, 6 support staff, 4 doctoral interns and several graduate assistants. The Counseling Center is comprised of four divisions, which includes the: (1) Counseling Service; (2) Learning Assistance Service; (3) Disability Support Service; and (4) the Testing and Research Unit. The Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), and holds American Psychological Association (APA) accreditation for its Intern Training Program.

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Directly affiliated with the Counseling Service division of the Counseling Center, the staff psychologist will be responsible for providing services to students and the University community, by offering short-term individual and group psychotherapy/counseling, diagnostic assessment, psychological and career testing, consultation, outreach, and crisis intervention. The generalist psychologist is skilled in fostering the academic progress and career development of University students through a variety of counseling and psycho-educational interventions. Clinical supervision and training of interns, externs, practicum students, and other trainees are required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. Successful completion of an APA accredited internship. Early career psychologist (within six years post-doctorate) who is licensed or license-ready to practice psychology in the State of Maryland.
