ABOUT THIS JOB
The Drilling Operations Director (DOD) plans, directs and coordinates the activities of the Drilling & Wells Operations on a global basis. The DOD, in coordination with the Drilling Managers, supervises and coordinates the preparation of the operations budget, controls expenditure and justifies variances. The DOD is also responsible for the management of the operations team charged with engineering, evaluation and execution of drilling, completion and well testing operations. In addition, the DOD is expected to provide operational guidance and planning assistance to the project team, and to form and maintain excellent relations with the other members of the project team and other departments within Baker Hughes. The Drilling Manager(s) or Vice President will act as a delegate for the Drilling Operations Director in his/her absence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure safe and efficient start-up and delivery of multiple, global rig projects.
Achieve operations program objectives. Endorse programs and any program changes that require MoC (Management of Change).
Approve all dispensation to technical standards and guidelines.
Assure that Drilling Managers, Project Managers, Drilling Superintendents and Product Line Managers are working collaboratively.
Direct supervision of Drilling Managers, Drilling Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure that work is carried out in a safe manner with regard to safety and the environment.
Responsible for overall development / training / retention of all IO Drilling staff.
Serve as liaison with Baker Hughes senior management and other Baker Hughes departments to ensure that objectives for the well programs are defined and fully understood.
Establish a planning and operational team, including all infrastructure and support requirements.
Discuss, agree and oversee delivery of KPIs for the IO Drilling Teams.
Provide HS&E leadership to the IO Drilling Teams.
Provide technical leadership in both routine and innovative solutions to deliver improved well life cycle costs.
Represent the IO Drilling teams in all management meetings (both operational and strategic).
Responsible for reviewing daily, monthly and annual reporting from the IO Drilling teams.
Coordinate Drilling the Well On Paper workshops (DWOP) for new projects.
Ensure After Action Reporting is done after each well and according to the BHOS QA system.
Monitor quality of End of Well Reports.
Participate in risk assessment workshops.
Monitor and assist in the improvement of BHIO Management Systems.
Assisting the Project Start-up Managers in preparation of a Project Plan for the operations program.
Project and well objective setting and delivery monitoring.
Risk management.
Provide advice in contracting and procurement strategy including rig and service contracting.
Advise in contracting of services and purchase of materials to perform the well operations programs.
Logistics strategy and coordination.
Review AFE/Budget development and cost tracking.
Advise and review on emergency response and oil spill/chemical discharge strategy, organization and training.
Safety and environmental inspection visits to well sites.
Coordination of morning and other operational meetings and calls with Drilling Managers, Superintendents and operational drilling teams.
Liaison with drilling and service contractors to ensure quality of service.
Agree and expedite corrective actions resulting from any incident and accident report.
Compliance with all legislative requirements.
Ensure BHI operations are executed in compliance with our Business Code of Conduct, HS&E and Core Values.
Implement QA procedures as per contractual requirements in cooperation with QA Coordinator.
Coordinate the implementation of BHOS Service Reliability & Quality relevant procedures and documentation.
Provide data for QA KPIs as requested by BHIO management.
