Description
An experienced Manufacturing Systems Engineer to work on New Product Introduction in a high value, high quality, low to medium volume environment.
Preferably degree qualified in Manufacturing Engineering or a Mechanical discipline, with broad experience of manufacturing, preferably in a cellular, batch of one environment. Any experience of luxury sector or high end consumer electronics would be a bonus
The primary role is to take new products from concept to full production with a focus on DFA/DFM, tooling design, manufacturing system design and line commissioning.
To support this we are looking for knowledge and experience in the following:
· Design for Assembly
- knowledge of tolerance analysis techniques, including statistical tolerancing
- knowledge of design FMEA & process FMEA
- experience of portable consumer products or small complex mechanical assemblies very desirable
· Design for Manufacture - desirable to have knowledge or experience in some of the following
- metal stamping, machining, surface finishing and forging.
- adhesive bonding
- precious metals
- plastics mouldings
- MIM (metal injection moulding)
- leatherwork
- optical assemblies
- Key Switch Modules
· Tooling design
- simple mechanical jig & fixture design for high precision assembly
- basic 3D CAD skills, preferably in CATIA V5
· Manufacturing System & cell design
- knowledge of lean manufacturing tools/systems (5S, Kanban, SMED, Kaizan etc.)
- knowledge of quality systems & controls (SPC, Cpk, 6 sigma)
· Project management & project planning skills
- ability to plan required tasks & equipment against project build and ramp up schedule
- ability to budget and track equipment and tooling costs
- ability to manage work from other departments that feeds into their tasks
· General skills
- able to work with minimum guidance to tight timescales
- ability to define, plan and manage their own tasks to meet a given set of milestones
- good problem solving skills
Qualifications
Individual PortfolioTypically 2 years directly related experience or 2-4 years overall professional experience. EnvironmentSemi routine tasks of moderate complexity requiring some discretion and judgment. Carries out tasks/activities according to assignment and set guidelines. Moderate degree of supervision and coaching needed.
