Worldwide Service Provider, Advanced Services
The WWSP Advanced Services Group is one of the two major services segment in Cisco Services, a 10,000 person strong organization that generates approximately US $10B per year in revenues.The Advanced Services organization is the post sale delivery arm that integrated Cisco and 3rd party solutions into service provider network and operations, while also facilitating network operations on a selective out-tasking basis.
Under WWSP, there are the following groups:
i. Americas Super theatrecomprising USA, Canada, Mexico and South America
ii. EMEA Super theatre comprised of Europe, Middle East and Africa
iii. APJC Super theatre comprised of India, Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China
iv. Practices that focus on the SP core architectures: NGN, Mobility, Data Center/Cloud, Video
v. Managed Services that deliver turn key solutions using SP as a Channel or to SP as an Enterprise
vi. Service Supply Chain to blend the best of Cisco’s partner networks
vii. Lab Infrastructure
viii. And OSS/BSS solutions
b) RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role we are seeking will report to the VP of APJC, Service Provider segment. APJC represents a significant opportunity for Cisco to evolve it’s out-tasking and out-sourcing business. With several ongoing engagements, leadership skills in this area continue to be in demand.
The role envisioned is a Delivery responsibility to shape and manage our new consumption models/large complex managed services deals for our customer in APJC. This role will involve pre and post sales responsibilities covering:
i. Business development support for complex managed services deals that require custom solution scoping and definition
ii. Scoping, designing and architecting managed services deals
iii. Financial planning and business case development, tailoring solutions to delivery sustainable margins
iv. Customer executive level expectation management
v. Working with partners and third party equipment/systems providers to assure delivery, back to back contractual alignment
vi. Establishment of program office and program plans
vii. Ongoing governance of these deals, both pre-sales and post sales
viii. Policy definition, best practices and blue team review gate keeper functions
This role will be supported by resources within each theatre supporting each deal, the sales teams with the architects and engineers, and the large opportunity teams. Likewise this role will support the large opportunity teams in a program governance, delivery scoping exercises, and business case justification.
c) The responsibilities will cover India, Asia Pacific and Japan, will require extensive travel to countries in these regions and, therefore, will require ability to travel within the territory. The role will start as an individual contributor, developing into a full shadow P&L for managed services deals, with matrix responsibilities.
The role being sought will assume the responsibility of managing the financial modeling team as well as the portfolio of opportunities that Cisco Advanced Services is working on. The individual will need to understand and manage the unique customer architectural solutions being planned, the delivery model and the commercial terms. Taken together, the three represent and Alternative Business Model for Cisco. It is Cisco Advanced Services intent to selectively pursue ABM arrangement with a few select customers to build a long lasting franchise of services with substantial product pull through.
The individual in this role will direct and manage which deals are pursued, manage the pipeline, conduct the initial qualification and direct the actual financial and commercial modeling aspects of the business. The activities include:
• Directly managing the finance modelingteam
• Coordinate assessment and qualification of alternate business model deals
• Understand the direction of Cisco architecture solutions and product directions to bring these to the financial modeling exercises as future implementations of technology solutions
• Understand the cost structure trends and value of practices and centers of excellence so as to strengthen the solution offer through the financial and commercial models
• Be directly responsible to position and grow Cisco Advanced Services
• Grow, lead, challenge, and motivate the large opportunity, finance and various teams engaged in the development of the opportunities under the alternate business model umbrella. Evaluate and strengthen the team as required, to solidify succession plans and enhance management capabilities to meet strategic and operating objectives.
• Build intellectual property and reusability of processes, approaches and frameworks of engagement
• Engage with other Cisco executives, internal customers, and line management to establish an environment that is motivating, entrepreneurial in nature and aligned with overall SP AS priorities.
• Possess a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the complexities and needs of running a services business for Service Providers, along with an understanding of Cisco positioning, intent and long term services strategy
• Be a strong advocate of Cisco Services, value, pricing and competitive positioning to the marketplace, to internal and external customers.
• Be an effective spokesperson and champion for the WWSP AS team
LEADERSHIP CAPABILITY The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and characteristics:
• Cultural adaptability to work in India and around the emerging market theatres
• Collaborate: work across multiple organizational boundaries to unify and advance SP India’s charter. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functional groups and inter-business units, creating a shared vision and alignment for very large operations. Ability to achieve results through influence is critical for this role. The successful individual must demonstrate a unique ability to work across organization boundaries and be a strong influencer and team worker.
• Learn: leader must be genuinely curious and want to learn, continue to develop own functional and leadership capabilities, adapt and integrate business models/customer value systems up/down stream partner.
• Execute: drive innovation and delivery against product roadmap.
• Accelerate: develop and communicate SP AS strategy.
• Disrupt: willing to make the difficult, but necessary decisions and changes required to achieve expected results.
• Demonstrate at least 10+ years experience in leading and innovating around services, with an in-depth understanding of SP network architectures, operations and processes, as well as cost structures.
EDUCATION: An Undergraduate Degree in Engineering with a strong Financebackground is required. Advanced Degree in Business is preferred.
