POSITION SUMMARY
The Carrier Technical Specialist (CTS) will work alongside as back-office support to the Carrier Technical Managers (CTM). Technical direction will be provided by the engineering community at RIM while local direction and immediate priorities will be provided by the senior CTMs or Carrier Group Managers based on Carrier Business Units and program management Technical Acceptance requirements. The CTS responsibilities include supporting Carrier Technical Manager's projects at various stages.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
The duties will consist of interacting with internal key stake holders with relation to escalated carrier issues
The CTS will help maintain all database efforts updated and help drive the issues until understood and resolved by development (fixes); then validating or coordinating with other teams in validating such fixes
Additionally the CTS would assist the Carrier Technical Managers with project plan updates, carrier RFI documentation readiness for new products, carrier technical training, on-site hand-held certification pre-testing, testing and evaluations support as needed (field/at carrier partners test labs)
Initial carrier partners launches; BlackBerry devices training and tech support within the Lat Am region helping maintain launch schedules and meeting agreed project timeframes
Support technical questions from carriers, issues from other BlackBerry System Engineer's (BBSE) and FTS
Provide training, to BBSE, and FTS where applicable
Support BBSE's and FTS in investigation of any field issues, or handheld issues
With direction from the Carrier Technical Manager, the CTS helps drive prioritization of field technical software issues and feature requirements
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science Degree
Technically savvy and project oriented professional
2 - 5 years Experience in a software/telecom project environments - preferably focused on wireless technologies
Excellent communication skills - fully bilingual (English/Spanish). Portuguese language very beneficial and desirable but not required
Practical knowledge and understanding of wireless devices & technologies. Networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, Firewall, Security) desired
Technical Training experience will be beneficial but not essential
Certification such as MCSE, MCP, CLP, PCLP) is an advantage but not essential
Previous experience with the Telecom industry, and knowledge of GSM/GPRS and/or CDMA and/or iDEN will be beneficial
Experience with software testing is beneficial
